Cheap Meat
This information is coming from the celebrity blog I follow on livejournal called "OhNoTheyDidn't!". If any of you are into trashy celeb gossip I suggest you join this blog because it really cuts to the chase and is very informative. ANY WHO--I came across an article about Lady Gaga and her meat costume at the VMAS. At first I had read that it was synthetic meat which still seemed grotesque but a little less wasteful and disturbing as real meat would be to wear. The blog later apologized and said in fact it was real meat and 25 pounds of it! 25 pounds of meat (cheap cuts, I may add)? Do you know how many poor people are lacking a proper diet and could have benefited by that? I am disgusted not only by the costume itself but the lack of integrity lady gaga has for people who could have used that meat for a way better cause. I do not care if it is a fashion statement or a statement in general it is completely idiotic and I lost any respect I had for GAGA.

ReplyDeleteThat said, I think the average household probably throws away more food in a week than Lady Gaga was wearing on her body. She was making a statement, like with the Rolling Stone cover, and I weirdly understood what she was trying to say; She's not a piece of meat, and neither are any other celebrities. It was gross, but in my opinion, also kind of brilliant. I'm kind of surprised no one has ever done it before.
I definitely wouldn't have touched her, though. *shudders*
I see where you are coming from and I appreciate your opinion it just kind of infuriated me that it was wasteful. Don't you think synthetic meat could make the same statement? The statement itself is wonderful but I think it could have been done in a better way.
ReplyDeleteMal i definitely agree with you here.When i was watching the VMAS i wasn't sure if that was real or synthetic, but now i certainly do.First of all i think that's absolutely disgusting, i don't know why anyone would want to wear raw meat around, but I'm sure that's what she was going for and second that is a waste,If you can afford to have someone make you an outfit out of meat then you can afford to send some nutritious food to people of poverty.
